Hotel Perun is built around apartments, so comfort here means space and self-catering as much as hotel service. Location and what to see

Getting there

Hotel Perun sits on Cetinjska, in the central part of Budva, a few minutes' walk from the town's medieval walled Old Town and just back from the seafront. The nearest airport is Tivat (TIV), roughly 20 kilometres away and about a 25-minute drive; the hotel can arrange a paid airport shuttle on request. For wider connections, Podgorica Airport lies around 65 kilometres inland, while Dubrovnik in neighbouring Croatia is about 70 kilometres up the coast and useful for long-haul flights. Budva's main bus station is only about 850 metres away, a ten-minute walk, with frequent coastal buses to Kotor, Cetinje and Sveti Stefan. The hotel offers free private on-site parking, a genuine bonus in a town where summer parking is tight, so if you arrive by car it's worth reserving a space in advance. Within Budva itself almost everything worth seeing is walkable, and taxis are easy to find for trips further along the riviera.

What to see

The heart of Budva is its walled Old Town (Stari Grad), a compact maze of stone lanes, churches and squares on a small peninsula, crowned by the Citadela fortress with wide views over the Adriatic — the ramparts are best at sunset. Just below, Mogren Beach and the long Slovenska Beach frame the town, while the photogenic islet of Sveti Stefan, one of Montenegro's most iconic sights, lies about 10 kilometres south and is worth a half-day trip. From Budva the whole riviera opens up: the fjord-like Bay of Kotor and its UNESCO-listed old town are around an hour away, and the mountain roads to Cetinje and Lovćen National Park make a rewarding drive. May, June and September bring warm weather with lighter crowds, while July and August are lively but busy, so it pays to start beach and Old Town visits early. In the evenings the action centres on the Old Town squares and the seafront promenade, both packed with restaurants and bars.
